AIS data crucial to Great Belt collision investigation

The container ship Delphis Gdansk and the freighter BBC Neptune collided in the Great Belt near Kalundborg, Denmark on Tuesday, March 27, 2018.  Automatic Identification System (AIS) data reveals that the Delphis Gdansk was forced to avoid an oncoming ship shortly before the collision with the BBC Neptune.

The AIS data from all three vessels will play a crucial role in the investigation conducted by the Danish Maritime Authorities.
