ASSEMBLER

US Citizenship required

Purpose of the Job

Shine Micro, Inc. is seeking an Electronic Assembler to work in a fast paced team environment at our Port Ludlow office. The job involves assembling printed circuit boards, cables, electronic components, sub-assemblies, or systems using a variety of materials, tools and documentation. Experience working under ISO9001 and AS9100 or similar working practices and procedures is highly desirable.

Essential Duties

  • Assemble surface mount and through hole components to IPC standards with various soldering tools
  • Assemble PCBAs in to subassemblies and systems
  • Follow documented assembly and rework procedures
  • Work using a microscope sometimes all day
  • Build and rework prototypes for Engineering
  • Remove and replace SMT and through hole electronic components
  • Ensure on-going adherence to established ISO 9001 quality system and common industry workmanship standards
  • Follows proper Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) procedures at all times and is knowledgeable of and performs job in accordance with proper material handling procedures and guidelines
  • Assist in the development of documentation for new products
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Overtime may be required

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, procedures, and bills of material
  • Must have basic electronic component identification skills, including polarity are required
  • Ability to learn new processes quickly
  • Basic computer skills required including MS Word and Excel

Embedded Software Defined Radio (SDR) Engineer

Location: Port Ludlow WA, on the Olympic Peninsula

Purpose of the Job

Shine Micro is seeking an additional Software Defined Radio Engineer to work in a fast-paced team environment at our Port Ludlow office. The selected candidate will be part of a small engineering team performing research and development for Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA), IoT and Ocean of Things (OoT). The candidate must have an intimate knowledge of communication transceivers using Software Defined Radios (SDR) and Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) technology.

Shine Micro is the pioneer of high-sensitivity AIS receivers for long-range, real-time, persistent monitoring and vessel tracking.  From the United States Coast Guard (USCG) Nationwide Automatic Identification System (NAIS) to the invention and patent of Class B AIS transmission protocol (CSTDMA), Shine Micro specializes in innovation and optimization of AIS, including VHF technology for Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) monitoring and Small Vessel Tracking (SVT).

Essential Duties

  • Develop SDR-based products using FPGA in C and C++ in both Windows and Linux environments
  • Develop Digital Beam Forming using Phased Arrays and/or MIMO
  • Full-cycle product development from design, code, and test to implementation.
  • Work simultaneously on projects in different phases, including support of legacy products
  • Share your FPGA expertise with other engineers while learning from experts in AIS
  • Work within multiple disciplines: software, firmware, FPGA, electrical, mechanical and technical writing
  • Design at the system block level, modeling RF systems and/or wireless communication networks
  • Collaborate with antenna and circuit designers on novel RF systems and algorithms
  • Other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years of related experience
  • Experience with design and implementation of SDR capabilities for FPGAs (e.g., DDC, Digital Filters, Demodulation, CODEC, FFT)
  • Experience with high-speed interfacing to peripherals (e.g., USB, Ethernet, LVDS)
  • Experience with Xilinx Zynq and Ultrascale FPGA families
  • Experience with Xilinx Vivado
  • Experience with C, C++, and Python
  • Experience debugging FPGA based systems using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, etc.
  • Experience with radio frequency (RF) communications and/or radar systems
  • Understanding of embedded design considerations including memory management, microprocessor architectures, instruction efficiency, and I/O timing
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies (languages, patterns, signal analysis, etc.)
  • Strong analysis and mathematical skills
  • Effective oral and written communications skills and an ability to work effectively in a team environment

Desired Experience

  • Experience with GNU radio
  • Experience with community SDRs such as Ettus’s USRP project
  • Experience with analog and/or digital board design and layout
  • Experience developing embedded solutions for ARM processors

RF ENGINEER

US Citizenship required

Location: Port Ludlow WA, on the Olympic Peninsula.

Required Skills

  • Experience designing low noise receivers and amplifiers in the DC-2Ghz range.
  • Power amplifier design to 25W.
  • Background in software-defined radios desirable.
  • Design, test, and troubleshoot RF / electronic circuits and embedded firmware.
  • Perform RF integrated circuit simulations using SPICE and RF simulation software.
  • Work closely with RF system design engineer to ensure RF System requirements are met from concept through volume production.
  • Be actively involved in the full design cycle from specification definition to subassembly and final product testing.
  • Experienced in surface mount design and assembly practices.
  • Antenna design experience preferred.
  • TIC54x DSP, C, C++ and assembly programming a plus.

Qualifications

  • BS/MSEE with experience in RF amplifier and low noise receiver design.
  • Hands-on laboratory experience using RF measurement and verification systems.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills. Excellent analytical skills.

RF TECHNICIAN

Purpose of the Job

Shine Micro, Inc. is seeking an additional RF Technician to work in a fast paced team environment at our Port Ludlow office. The RF Technician will be trained to perform a variety of tasks including; Test, troubleshoot and repair of RF receivers/transceivers, GPS receivers, VHF electronic equipment and DC/DC converters at the PCB and final assembly level. Experience working under ISO9001 and AS9100 or similar working practices and procedures is highly desirable. Experience using signal generators, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers and test techniques related to electronic circuits is added bonus.  Responsibilities may include testing, troubleshooting to component level, and repair of RF and digital circuit boards and electronic and/or electro-mechanical assemblies.

Essential Duties

  • Test, troubleshoot and repair analog and digital circuits
  • Prepare written reports, process RGA and repair paperwork
  • Ensure on-going adherence to established ISO 9000 quality and workmanship standards
  • Ensure on time repair of customer products as scheduled
  • Utilize appropriate Bill of Material and repair procedures
  • Monitor condition of test equipment and test fixtures
  • May assist in the training of new staff or cross-train current staff to support
  • Required to perform the job functions in a safe manner
  • Other duties as assigned.
