Shine Micro provides AIS Equipment for New Zealand Network

Shine Micro AIS Receivers were selected for a nation-wide AIS network that was launched in New Zealand on August 4th, 2008. Operated by Kordia, a key regional player in the telecommunications industry, the new network uses Shine Micro's high-sensitivity RadarPlus AIS Receivers located in optimized, high-elevation sites to achieve long range reception. This efficient network structure provides New Zealand with more coastline coverage through fewer receiver sites (than a traditional network using urban installations).

Mark Janor, Account Manager at Kordia, states that:

Long-range tracking is achieved by the combination of high-sensitivity Shine Micro AIS receivers with specifically engineered antenna and filtering equipment. There are currently 14 sites in service in this network, with 3 more to be added in 2009.
