Google Maps AIS Display

The Google Maps AIS Display allows the user to view live AIS targets overlaid on Google Maps.

The number of targets in each region are represented by yellow, green, and blue circles. By clicking on a circle, the viewing window zooms in on the selected area, allowing the user to quickly view the region of interest.

Other features of this display include:

  • Search Function: allows the user to search vessels by MMSI number, name, or location.
  • Refresh Rate: allows the user to set the refresh rate from 10 to 60 seconds.
  • Quick Leap: allows the user to quickly move from one area of interest to another by selecting specific regions, ports, or unfiltered markers.
  • Filters: allows the user to filter which vessel types and vessel information that is being displayed.

Nautical Chart AIS Display

The Nautical Chart AIS Display allows the user to view static AIS targets overlaid on SoftChart International Maps.

Targets that have traveled noticeable distances in the most recent 4-hour period contain a trailing blue line. This blue line indicates the course that each vessel has traveled during the past 4 hours. Vessels that lack a trailing blue line have not traveled noticeable distances in the past 4 hours.

Each chart in The Nautical Chart AIS Display automatically refreshes every 60 seconds.

Disclaimer

Both the Google Maps AIS Display and Nautical Chart AIS Display are not to be used for navigational purposes. The maps are designed for educational and informational purposes only.
