Low Cost Class B AIS Now Certified in Canada
The RadarPlus® AIS-BX low cost Class B AIS transponder is now certified
for use in Canada.
Port Ludlow, WA - January 4, 2008
Shine Micro is pleased to announce that the RadarPlus® AIS-BX low
cost Class B AIS transponder has achieved certification from Industry
Canada for operation in Canadian national waters. Certification of the
AIS-BX for use in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Norway,
Sweden and Finland was achieved in summer 2007.
See and Be Seen with Class B AIS
Class B AIS is a low cost safety of navigation aid. With the RadarPlus®
AIS-BX you can transmit vital information about your vessel and receive
the AIS transmissions of others for viewing in real-time on your PC or
chart plotter. AIS messages include identity data such as vessel name,
radio call sign and position.
Standard features include:
- Transmit Your Position
A properly installed AIS-BX increases you chances of detection by other
AIS fitted vessels in range, including Search and Rescue Operations
and most commercial ships.
- Internal GPS
The AIS-BX includes an integral 16 channel GPS for accurate position
reporting.
- Silent Mode
The AIS-BX will engage "Silent Mode" when the "S"
button is pressed. This disables the transmitter while continuing Receive-Only
operation. Simply press the "S" button again to exit Silent
Mode and resume transmitting.
- Standard NMEA Interface
The AIS-BX can interface with any NMEA compatible chart plotter or suitably
configured PC.
- Water Resistance
The IP65 rated aluminum case allows the AIS-BX to operate in harsh environments.
Shine Micro began accepting export orders to
Europe for the RadarPlus® AIS-BX as of June 1, 2007. Certification
to export to Canada was received on January 4, 2008. The RadarPlus®
AIS-BX is in stock and available for immediate shipment. Shine Micro

The RadarPlus® AIS-BX is certified IEC compliant by BSH in Germany
and bears the CE Mark as certified R&TTE compliant by BABT.
