Fremantle, Western Australia

AtoN 2007 is an Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) sponsored four-day Aids to Navigation symposium that was held in Fremantle from 28 to 31 August 2007. AtoN 2007 was co-hosted by the West Australian Department of Planning and Infrastructure. The Department for Planning and Infrastructure is Western Australia's lead agency for marine safety, and is responsible for the safe navigation and use of State waters, protecting the marine environment and providing for an effective response to marine emergencies.

Day one was an industry day at which commercial providers of aids to navigation equipment, systems, services and infrastructure provided displays of their products and services and presentations on recent innovations and developments within their respective fields. Shine Micro President Mark Johnson was a featured speaker on the topic of Long Range AIS.
Day two was dedicated to policy and operational issues pertaining to the use of AIS equipment, and day three covered issues relevant to aids to navigation regulators. The final day of the conference was dedicated to briefings on a range of heritage management issues including tourist access.

Outside the conference Mark and Judy Johnson were excited to experience Australia.
